SCAI recently sent a letter to the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration informing them of SCAI’s new Expert Consensus Statement on Percutaneous Coronary Intervention Without On-Site Surgical Backup and requesting that they update their surgical backup requirements accordingly.

Currently, Florida’s level 1 center requirements indicate that atherectomy cannot be performed in centers without surgical backup.
