SCAI Comments on Sterilization of Balloons, Stents and Catheters | SCAI

SCAI recently signed on to a comment letter to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on the proposed rule for the National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants: Ethylene Oxide (EtO) Emissions Standards for Sterilization Facilities Residual Risk and Technology Review. The letter addressed concerns of the cardiology medical societies about the impact emissions reductions may have on sterilization of balloons, stents, and catheters, and asked the EPA to work closely with the FDA on this important issue.

SCAI will be watching closely for the EPA’s decision when the final rule is published.
