Join Me in Miami

I am excited to invite you to the 2025 SCAI Congenital Heart Disease Interventional Cardiology Course. In addition to outstanding didactic teaching, this year’s course will include even more interactive learning, small-group and case-based discussions, and hands-on teaching.

Participants will have the opportunity to network with other trainees and receive career advice and mentorship from over 20 renowned experts in congenital interventional cardiology and to learn from their diverse perspectives and experience.

Program Chair

Program Overview

The Congenital Heart Disease Interventional Fellows meeting offers a comprehensive four-day program designed to enhance fellows' skills and knowledge in congenital heart interventions. Participants will engage in case-based learning, small-group discussions, and hands-on workshops covering a wide spectrum of topics crucial to interventional cardiology in congenital heart disease (CHD). The agenda includes sessions on advanced techniques such as defect closure, urgent interventions, neonatal interventions, single ventricle management, valvular and vascular interventions, interventions in adults with CHD, managing complications, and more. Fellows will benefit from networking opportunities with seasoned experts and peers, gaining insights into complex procedures and emergent scenarios. This course is essential for fellows looking to deepen their expertise and readiness in the field of CHD interventional cardiology.

Learning Objectives

  • Master techniques for ASD, VSD, and PDA closure, considering procedural challenges and device selection.
  • Identify and manage urgent and emergent complications during CHD interventions.
  • Discuss strategies and approaches for intervention in patients with single ventricle heart disease at all stages of palliation.
  • Evaluate options and techniques for pulmonary valve interventions, from valvuloplasty to transcatheter valve implantation.
  • Demonstrate skills in rehabilitating and managing complex pulmonary artery lesions.
  • Apply interventional strategies for adult congenital heart disease, including stent implantation and coronary interventions.
  • Participate in hands-on workshops to enhance procedural skills with guidance from industry experts.
  • Engage in networking activities to build professional relationships and exchange knowledge with faculty and peers.

International Attendees

SCAI is excited to welcome international fellows to the SCAI 2025 Fellows Courses. We set aside a specific number of scholarships for our Interventional Course and Congenital Heart Disease Course for attendees outside of the US and Canada. These scholarships are distributed among SCAI’s international societal partners, who in turn select the fellows. Please contact your local Society for details.

International fellows may apply for the congenital course; however, preference is given to those training in the US. International fellows will not be accepted for the Advanced Courses. If you have additional questions, please contact Liz Burke.
