SCAI Supports Provider Reimbursement Stability Act | SCAI

SCAI signed on to a physician organization group letter of support for HR 8163, the Provider Reimbursement Stability Act, led by Rep. Greg Murphy, MD (R-NC). This legislation helps to create a more rational, predictable Medicare physician payment system that preserves patient access to care and reflects the true cost of delivering high-quality medical services.

On May 20, 2026, The House Energy & Commerce Committee held a hearing titled Examining the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule, MACRA, and Opportunities for Payment Reforms where SCAI member Dr. Richard Snyder (while not speaking on behalf of SCAI but on behalf of another organization he is a part of) talked about the need to reform the Medicare physician payment system. On May 21, 2026, the House Ways and Means Committee held a markup of several pieces of healthcare legislation, including on HR 8163, bringing it one step closer to being enacted into law.
