Starting in the late 1970s and early 1980s, the humble beginnings of congenital heart disease (CHD) interventional fellowship training can be traced to five seminal pioneers: Charles Mullins, James Lock, William Hellenbrand, Lee Benson, and Alber Rocchini.
It is from this group that the vast majority of CHD interventional cariologists with formal CHD training can trace their learning lineage.
In the video learn Dr. Hellenbrand, Dr. Rocchini, and Dr. Benson detail how they started each of their programs. In the accompanying article you can read tributes to each of the five pioneers written by former fellows.
