In November, CMS announced a new value-based care model, the Ambulatory Specialty Model (ASM), specifically targeting the diagnoses of heart failure and low back pain, effective January 1, 2027. 

Even though interventional cardiologists are meant to be excluded from the demonstration project, participation is tied to the PECOS taxonomy code assigned to each physician.  

The final list of participants will be released this summer. SCAI continues to follow the development and will keep members posted with updates.
