Dr. Cohen is the Director of Structural Heart Interventions at Cleveland Clinic Florida.
He earned his medical degree from Universidad Nacional de Tucumán in Argentina and completed his internal medicine and general cardiology training at Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires. In 1997, he was awarded the SOLACI Scholarship by the Latin American Society of Interventional Cardiology, an annual distinction granted to the top young Latin American cardiologist, which enabled him to pursue advanced training in interventional cardiology and research at Duke University Medical Center.
In 2000, Dr. Cohen joined the interventional cardiology staff at Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires, one of South America’s leading medical institutions. During that time, he also served as a clinical trials reviewer for ANMAT, Argentina’s National Administration for Medicines, Foods, and Medical Technologies, from 2000 to 2002.
From 2003 to 2008, he served as the associate cath lab director and an assistant professor of medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He then joined the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, where he served as cath lab director and professor of medicine from 2009 to 2023.
Dr. Cohen has authored more than 200 publications in leading peer-reviewed journals and contributed more than 20 book chapters. He also co-authored several American Heart Association scientific statements as well as the 2021 ACC/AHA/SCAI Revascularization Guidelines and the 2025 ACC/AHA/ACEP/NAEMSP/SCAI Acute Coronary Syndromes Guidelines.
In 2010, he was selected for the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions’ Emerging Leaders Mentorship Program. He has held several prominent leadership roles, including Chair of the American Heart Association Acute Care Committee and Chair of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions Ischemic Heart Disease Council.
His major clinical and research interests include structural heart interventions, complex percutaneous coronary intervention, novel antithrombotic strategies, transradial cardiac catheterization and intervention, and health disparities. He has lectured widely and presented his work at prestigious national and international scientific meetings.
