The Interventional Cardiology Course will showcase state-of-the-art procedural techniques, advanced technologies, and contemporary evidence, presented almost exclusively in a case-based format. National and international faculty, renowned for their expertise in complex interventions, have collaborated to design a comprehensive coronary track that will enhance your skills and procedural knowledge across the full spectrum of interventional cardiology.
Topics will cover managing complications, high-risk and complex coronary revascularization, including the treatment of heavily calcified lesions, chronic total occlusions, left main and bifurcation disease, hemodynamic support/shock, intravascular imaging, hemodynamic coronary evaluation, and more. The curriculum also includes focused content on peripheral and structural heart disease, specifically tailored to the needs of practicing interventionalists. Additionally, there will be dedicated sessions on practice building, jobs and contracts, and managing occupational hazards.
Small group sessions, networking events, and satellite programs in partnership with industry will help you hone your interventional expertise and expand your professional network. Leaders in the field will impart practical, real-world knowledge to set your career on a path to success while introducing you to the SCAI community, which will support you throughout your careers as interventional cardiologists.

Program Overview
The SCAI Fellows Interventional Cardiology Course provides a comprehensive educational experience designed to equip fellows with advanced skills and knowledge essential for their careers. Through didactic sessions, hands-on workshops, and case-based discussions, attendees will explore cutting-edge topics such as complex PCI techniques, intravascular imaging, large bore access, and the management of challenging lesions, including left main and CTO cases. Fellows will gain proficiency in utilizing tools like IVUS and OCT, understanding drug-coated balloons, and navigating clinical dilemmas in PCI. This course aims to enhance procedural expertise and decision-making abilities, preparing fellows to tackle diverse clinical scenarios effectively.
Through access to experienced SCAI leaders, collaboration with industry supporters, and interaction with your peers, the SCAI Fellows Interventional Cardiology Course will enable you to:
- Master techniques for complex PCI, including lesion assessment and procedural planning.
- Utilize intravascular imaging (IVUS, OCT) and hemodynamic coronary assessments (FFR, iFR, AngioFFR, FFR CT) to optimize PCI outcomes.
- Implement strategies for managing calcified lesions using atherectomy and intravascular lithotripsy techniques.
- Understand the application of drug-coated balloons in coronary interventions.
- Demonstrate proficiency in large bore access techniques for high-risk PCI cases.
- Identify and manage cardiogenic shock in the catheterization laboratory.
- Discuss and apply clinical guidelines and evidence-based practices in PCI.
- Evaluate and manage complications related to PCI procedures.
- Develop skills in interdisciplinary collaboration for hybrid and complex interventions.
