Dr. Fang is a US-trained interventional cardiologist specializing in structural heart interventions. He earned his medical degree from the University of Hong Kong in 2011 and completed his residency and fellowships in cardiology and advanced internal medicine at Queen Mary Hospital, University of Hong Kong, in 2019. He then underwent post-fellowship training in invasive cardiology, focusing on interventional procedures and the implantation of cardiac implantable electronic devices. He subsequently pursued an interventional cardiology fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School (2022–2023), followed by a structural heart disease fellowship at Henry Ford Hospital (2023–2024).
Dr. Fang has performed multiple complex procedures in structural heart interventions, including concurrent valvular and paravalvular procedures, dual-valve replacement with mechanical circulatory support in cardiogenic shock, transcaval and axillary access for valvular intervention and mechanical circulatory support, and multiple transcatheter electrosurgery procedures. He has pioneered several innovative techniques in structural heart interventions, such as the application of lithotripsy in valvular interventions, balloon-based alternative techniques in electrosurgery, and the use of radial access in structural heart interventions. He has performed educational live cases at major international conferences, including the American College of Cardiology (ACC) Annual Scientific Sessions.
In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Fang trained in clinical research at Harvard Medical School and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. He completed the Global Clinical Scholars Research Training (2018–2019) and the Clinical Effectiveness Program (2024). He also serves as a reviewer for several leading journals, including JACC: Case Reports, JACC: Asia, and the Journal of Invasive Cardiology. He has authored over 40 peer-reviewed articles and abstracts in interventional cardiology, with publications in JACC: Cardiovascular Interventions, EuroIntervention, Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, Cardiovascular Revascularization Medicine, and the Journal of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography & Interventions (JSCAI). He has been a faculty member at major international interventional cardiology conferences, including Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT), Cardiovascular Research Technologies (CRT), and Transcatheter Therapeutics-Asia Pacific (TCT-AP).
He is a Fellow of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography & Interventions (SCAI), the American College of Cardiology (ACC), the Hong Kong College of Physicians, and the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine, and a member of the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom. He is currently an associate consultant at the National Heart Centre Singapore and its affiliated hospitals.
