The Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions Foundation (SCAI Foundation) is the leading nonprofit medical society representing invasive and interventional cardiology. Founded in 1978, the SCAI Foundation’s mission is to lead the global interventional cardiovascular community through education, advocacy, research, and quality patient care.

SCAI Foundation seeks to further its mission through the solicitation, acceptance, and administration of charitable gifts. In pursuing and facilitating such gifts, the Foundation will act in accordance with the policies established herein and will foster and steward donor relationships to ensure a positive donor experience.

Any exceptions to these policies will be evaluated by the SCAI Futures Fund Working Group and must be approved by the Board of Trustees.

Donations in Lieu of Honoraria

Unsupported Gifts

SCAI Foundation reserves the right not to accept a proposed gift for reasons including, but not limited to, the following:

  • The gift involves illegality.
  • The gift conflicts with the mission or policies of SCAI Foundation.
  • The potential negative publicity outweighs the benefit of the gift.
  • Certain non-monetary gifts that do not meet acceptance criteria.
  • The administrative or legal burden outweighs the value of the gift.
  • The donor seeks to exert control beyond the terms of the gift agreement.

Endowed Funds

Endowed funds are held in perpetuity, with principal invested for long-term growth. The SCAI Futures Fund Working Group will recommend the spending strategy for Board of Trustee approval.

Gift Date Policy

SCAI Foundation records a date processed to reflect when the Foundation has taken possession of an asset and recorded it for internal purposes. Donors are encouraged to consult their tax advisors regarding deductibility.

Pledge Policy

All pledges require a written Statement of Intent signed by the donor specifying amount, designation, and payment schedule. Pledges are typically scheduled over a period not to exceed five years.
