Zaid I. Almarzooq, MD, MPH, is a U.S. board-certified interventional cardiologist, member of the faculty at Harvard Medical School, and the Director of the Structural Heart Program at the Boston Veterans Affairs Healthcare System. His clinical expertise is in cardiovascular medicine with a special focus on novel techniques in PCI and structural heart disease interventions. He is a Fellow of the ACC and SCAI.
His research focuses on the application of causal inference methods to cardiovascular care and disease. He has received several research grants and awards and has served on several national committees, including chair-elect of the AHA Epidemiology and Statistics Committee. He is the recipient of numerous awards, most recently the Richard Gorlin Award for Excellence in Cardiovascular Medicine Research from MGB/ Harvard Medical School, the Jaber Al-Ahmad Prize in Science from KFAS, and the SCAI Early Career Research Award.
In 2025 Dr. Almarzooq was the recipient of the SCAI-Edwards Life Sciences Early Career Research Grant for his project, Lifetime Management of Patients Undergoing Aortic Valve Replacement for Severe Aortic Stenosis: Trends and Outcomes in Low-Risk Surgical Patients.
