Toishi Sharma, MD, FSCAI | SCAI

Dr. Toishi Sharma is an interventional cardiologist at Self Regional Healthcare in South Carolina, where she serves as medical director of the chest pain center and assistant medical director for the cardiovascular technology program. She represents a new generation of interventional cardiologists who integrate clinical excellence, academic productivity, and innovative approaches to cardiovascular care. 

Dr. Sharma completed her medical training at the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), graduating with honors across multiple disciplines and receiving a highly competitive national merit scholarship. She pursued advanced training at premier institutions, including the Cleveland Clinic, Mount Sinai, and Massachusetts General Hospital, before completing her internal medicine residency at the University of Connecticut and fellowships in cardiovascular medicine and interventional cardiology at the University of Vermont.   

Her academic work focuses on structural heart disease, outcomes research, and evidence-based cardiovascular care. She has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications in leading journals such as the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, with research examining national trends in TAVR utilization, risk stratification, and procedural outcomes. Her work has been widely cited, reflecting a growing national impact in cardiovascular research. 

In addition to her clinical and research accomplishments, Dr. Sharma is a passionate educator and mentor. As a clinical instructor at the University of Vermont, she trained medical students, residents, and fellows through case-based teaching, ECG education, and research mentorship. She has delivered invited presentations at national conferences, including TCT and ACC Scientific Sessions, demonstrating her commitment to advancing knowledge within the interventional cardiology community. 

Dr. Sharma’s leadership extends beyond traditional academic roles. She serves as chief editor for interventional cardiology at StatPearls and as a reviewer for multiple peer-reviewed journals. She is also an emerging voice in digital health education, leveraging social media platforms to disseminate high-quality, evidence-based cardiovascular knowledge to patients and the broader community.
