MONTREAL—At SCAI 2026 Scientific Sessions & CAIC-ACCI Summit, held April 23–25, in Montréal, Canada, the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography & Interventions (SCAI) recognized several individuals for their outstanding service, leadership, and contributions to patient care and to the field of interventional cardiology. 

“Each of these honorees has made lasting contributions to our Society and to the field of interventional cardiology, and we are proud to celebrate the impact they have had through their commitment to excellence, mentorship, and innovation,” said SCAI President Srihari S. Naidu, MD, MSCAI.

Helping Hearts Lifetime Service Award 

This award recognizes Fellows of SCAI who have provided long-standing and substantive service to the Society and who exemplify professional excellence, ethical leadership, and dedication to advancing interventional cardiology.

Kenneth Rosenfield, MD, MHCDS, MSCAI has made significant contributions to the field of vascular and interventional medicine through his leadership, research, and commitment to improving patient care. A past president of SCAI, he has also served as a Governor of the American College of Cardiology, founded and served on the Board of Directors of VIVA Physicians, and created the carotid registry for the National Cardiovascular Data Registry. He is also a founder of the Pulmonary Embolism Response Team (PERT) Consortium and has served as principal investigator for numerous clinical trials that have influenced the practice of vascular and interventional medicine worldwide. Dr. Rosenfeld serves as Section Head, Vascular Medicine and Intervention at Massachusetts General Hospital.  

Helping Little Hearts Lifetime Service Award 

Helping Little Hearts recognizes interventional cardiologists specializing in the treatment of pediatric congenital heart disease who have worked tirelessly to develop less invasive solutions and improve outcomes for young patients. 

Donald J. Hagler, MD, MSCAI is recognized for his longstanding contributions to the care of patients with congenital heart disease and for his leadership in advancing interventional and imaging techniques used in complex structural and congenital procedures. His work has focused on catheter-based therapies, imaging-guided interventions, and collaborative clinical research aimed at improving outcomes for patients with congenital heart disease. Dr. Hagler is a pediatric cardiologist at Mayo Clinic.

F. Mason Sones, Jr., MD, FSCAI Distinguished Service Award 

Established in 2001, this award recognizes SCAI Fellows who have enhanced the stature of the Society or made significant contributions to the attainment of the Society’s objectives. 

Kirk N. Garratt, MD, MSc, MSCAI is recognized for his extensive leadership and service to SCAI and to the field of interventional cardiology. Over the course of his career, he has held numerous leadership roles within the Society, including serving as President, member of the Board of Trustees, and participant in multiple committees and initiatives. His clinical and academic work has helped advance interventional cardiology through innovation, education, and research, and he continues to play an important role in mentoring the next generation of physicians. Dr. Garratt serves as Medical Director of the Center for Heart and Vascular Health and as the John H. Ammon Chair of Cardiology within ChristianaCare.
