President’s Message — It's Not Just Any Hat! | SCAI

As we close out the year and look ahead to 2026, I want to share something I am very excited about. Many have already heard that we will be celebrating Hat Day at SCAI Scientific Sessions in Montreal. Before we get there, I want to tell you why the hat matters and why I hope every member will take part.

Some of you may have seen me wearing the SCAI hat on my social media. I have worn it in Mexico, in India, and all over during my travels these past six months. I wear it because I am proud of it. This is not just any hat! It represents what I have been doing in the lab and for patients, and what all of us have been doing for many years. I have been an interventional cardiologist for more than 20 years, and I am very proud of that. I know many of you feel the same way – because what we do is both unique and meaningful.

We chose – and remain – in the interventional cardiology field for a reason. And I think it’s time to show the world who interventional cardiologists are and what we do. The hat is a simple way to show unity as a field and to highlight the many areas that matter most to us.

This year, we have several activities planned leading up to Hat Day. We want you to be a part of them, and we do not want you to miss out. In the months before the meeting, I encourage you to buy the hat and share photos and short videos of yourself wearing it. We want to see what you do, what you enjoy, and what makes you proud to be an interventional cardiologist. And all off this will channel into making our field stronger and more visible, something we truly need if we are going to fight on behalf of ourselves and our patients in the years ahead!

There will be many chances to participate online and at the meeting, and we hope you will join in. So please buy your hat now so you have it ready for everything we have planned. I promise it will be fun, and I know it will bring all of us together in a new way.

I look forward to seeing you in Montreal and seeing all of you wearing your hats with pride.

Your President,

Srihari Naidu
