Dr. Josip A. Borovac (MD, PhD, FHFA, FESC) is a faculty member at the Department of Pathophysiology, University of Split School of Medicine, and an interventional cardiology fellow at the Division of Interventional Cardiology, Department of Cardiovascular Diseases, University Hospital of Split, in Split, Croatia.
He has been a proud fellow-in-training (FIT) member of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI) since 2024. Dr. Borovac currently serves as a committee member of the Heart Failure Association (HFA) 's committee on coronary artery disease. Previously, he contributed to various HFA scientific committees and was a nucleus member of the ESC Working Group on Thrombosis Young Researchers.
He has authored over 140 scientific publications indexed in PubMed, focusing on interventional cardiology, ischemia, percutaneous coronary intervention, cardiovascular pharmacology, and heart failure. His clinical interests include complex coronary interventions, chronic total occlusion management, and mechanical circulatory support-assisted PCI.
Dr. Borovac serves on the editorial boards of leading academic journals, including BMC Cardiovascular Disorders, Cardiac Failure Review, European Heart Journal: Case Reports, and Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions (CCI). He is also a frequent peer reviewer for top-tier cardiology and general medicine journals such as JACC, European Heart Journal, and The Lancet. He is committed to deepening his engagement with the SCAI and further supporting its mission in the years to come.
