Francesco Costa is an interventional cardiologist at Málaga University Hospital, senior researcher, and ORACLE program director at IBIMA, Málaga, Spain. He obtained his medical degree and cardiology residency with Summa cum Laude at the University of Messina, Italy. He completed a fellowship in interventional cardiology and obtained his PhD at Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, in 2018. He trained and obtained a Master's Degree in advanced coronary intervention at the Hospital Clinic in Barcelona, Spain, and structural heart interventions at the University of Catania, Italy.
Dr. Costa has been appointed Ambassador of the EAPCI Young initiative for Italy from 2016 to 2018, grant winner for the EAPCI and ESC training and research activities in 2017, and an editorial board member of PCRonline and Circulation:Cardiovascular Interventions in 2018. He has been part of the task force of the European Society of Cardiology for the guidelines on dual antiplatelet therapy in patients with coronary artery disease published in 2017, and the Academic Research Consortium for non-adherence in clinical trials published in 2019. He is currently a faculty member at the University of Messina as an associate professor and at the University of Malaga as Honorary Professor of Cardiology.
