Dr. Amartya Kundu is an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Kentucky and a staff interventional cardiologist at the UK Gill Heart & Vascular Institute.
He graduated from medical school with honors from Calcutta Medical College in India, after which he moved to the United States for post-graduate medical training. Dr. Kundu completed his residency training in internal medicine, followed by fellowships in cardiovascular medicine and interventional cardiology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. During his training, he was elected to serve as chief fellow in cardiovascular medicine and inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. He is quintuple board-certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology, echocardiography, and nuclear cardiology.
Dr. Kundu is a widely published clinical investigator, having authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters, and is frequently invited to speak at many national and international conferences. His cardiovascular outcomes research encompasses the fields of acute myocardial infarction, multivessel coronary artery disease, cardiogenic shock, and cardiac arrest.
Since joining the faculty at UK in the summer of 2021, Dr. Kundu has remained deeply committed to advancing medical education. His clinical practice focuses on complex, high-risk coronary interventions with a special interest in intracoronary imaging and percutaneous mechanical circulatory support.
