Dr. Abhishek Chaturvedi is an interventional cardiology fellow at the Georgetown University School of Medicine and MedStar Washington Hospital Center. He attended medical school at the University of Health Sciences, Rohtak, India, before moving to the United States for a research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), where he studied the role of inflammation and stress-related neural activity in the development of cardiovascular diseases. During his time at the NIH, Dr. Chaturvedi was awarded the Henry Christian Award by the American Federation of Medical Research. He subsequently completed his internal medicine training at the Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and a cardiology fellowship at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia.
Dr. Chaturvedi is board-certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular medicine and serves as a faculty and organizing committee member for the Cardiovascular Research Technologies (CRT) meeting. He is actively involved in research and has over 50 academic peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters in high-impact journals, over 100 peer-reviewed abstracts, over 50 regional and national presentations, and is a member of the clinical event adjudication committee for the randomized clinical trial, IMPROVE (IMPact on Revascularization Outcomes of IVUS Guided Treatment of Complex Lesions and Economic Impact) (NCT04221815). His research interests include acute coronary syndrome, percutaneous coronary intervention, cardiac arrest, cardiogenic shock, intravascular coronary imaging and physiology, transcatheter valve treatment, and global cardiovascular health. Dr. Chaturvedi’s global health work involves collaborations with the Center for Chronic Disease Control (CCDC) in New Delhi, India. As an adjunct faculty at the CCDC, he is involved in various ongoing cardiovascular cohort studies. He regularly reviews manuscripts for multiple cardiovascular journals, writes news articles about the latest cardiovascular studies on CRTonline, and serves on the editorial board of the journal “Cardiovascular Revascularization Medicine - Interesting Cases”. Dr. Chaturvedi also leads a monthly video series focusing on topics important to cardiology and interventional cardiology trainees called - The Fellows Call - which has been very well received by his peers and has garnered impressive engagement.
