In an effort to expand its collaborative partnerships and increase its global impact, Women in Innovations (WIN) announces its official affiliation with Stent for Life (SFL). The new partnership marks a large step in WIN’s growing presence in Europe, and towards its goal of improving care for female patients with heart disease world-wide.
Stent for Life is a unique European platform for interventional cardiologists, government representatives, industry partners, patient groups and patients to work together to help shape health care systems and medical practices and ensure that the majority of ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients have equal access to the lifesaving indication of p-PCI. The purpose of the initiative is to support the implementation of medical guidelines, identify barriers to the implementation of those guidelines, and define actions to increase patient access to PCI.
WIN aims to work with Stent for Life to develop targeted partnership goals over the next several years which will address the missions of both initiatives. WIN and SFL have already begun work on several projects including the launch of a patient/provider educational website in Spain, and the development of a workshop around women and ACS as part of the SFL Forum to be held in Prague, March 1-2, 2012.
WIN and SFL will create a steering committee for the newly minted partnership in order to plan for future successes. The goal will be to develop educational campaigns in target countries throughout Europe which will improve the outcomes for women undergoing PCI, and the access to PCI for all women.
