• December 2012 Tip of the Month

Does your Quality Assurance (QA) Process Need an Upgrade?

A recent SCAI position statement reviews the elements of a Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) program (Klein et al. Catheter Cardiovasc Interv 201;77:927-35). The initiative stresses that an inclusive CQI committee consists not only of physicians but also cath lab staff, nursing support, hospital administrators, and other ancillary personnel. This collaborative foundation can serve to assess the structure, process, and outcomes for your cardiac cath lab and Interventional Cardiology program. The perceived challenges of implementing a more comprehensive QA process will be rewarded by greater transparency and improved patient care.
