    Headlines: RSS Google Newsgator Yahoo

    Advocacy: RSS Google Newsgator Yahoo

SCAI now offers (Really Simple Syndication) RSS feeds to help members and interested parties keep up with the society's latest news and announcements. RSS is a popular way to share and distribute Web content, such as news headlines.

You can subscribe through a customized Web service such as My Yahoo, AOL, My MSN, NewsGator or your personalized Google page. If you have any difficulty adding the feed, you can also cut and paste the news feed address directly into your feed reader or aggregator. In addition, most of the latest versions of Web browsers now have RSS support, with easy RSS detection and subscription through the RSS button on their URL/Location bars.

    What is an RSS feed?

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) technology is used to create a "feed" (list) of news stories and headlines that you can have delivered to your desktop. For example, when news items or announcement are added to SCAI.org, those headlines can be added to a feed to which you can subscribe.

RSS feeds enable you to get update notifications delivered directly to you, via the RSS Reader of your choice. RSS offers convenience because you can subscribe to feeds from several Internet sites and automatically pull together headlines from all the sources into one list. This lets you quickly browse the list of new content without visiting each site.

What do I need to access a RSS feed?

You will need a RSS/News Aggregator (also called a Reader) that will download and display RSS feeds for you. A number of free and commercial Readers are available for download. Some examples can be found in the signup chart above.

Many Readers are separate, "stand-alone" programs. Others are part of more full-featured programs, such as e-mail clients (i.e. Outlook 2007) or web browsers (i.e. Internet Explorer 7).

How do I subscribe to a feed?

If you have one of the Readers shown in the above list, simply click on the button which corresponds to your Reader next to the feed you wish to subscribe to. You will be brought to your respective Reader to subscribe to the feed. To add the feed to Internet Explorer 7, you can simply click on the XML link above, and then click on the "Subscribe to this Feed" link near the top of the page.

If your Reader is not shown under "Subscribe" below, simply copy the link next to the feed you wish to subscribe to. You will then go into your Reader, locate where you would add a new feed, and paste the link into the Reader.
