ICI & IFI Bigger, Faster and Easier-to-Use Than Ever Before
It's an SCAI WEBolution. SCAI will be unveiling several revamped and upgraded web products for the interventional and invasive cardiology community in coming months.
The first to be rolled out? SCAI's newly enhanced eLearning sites - Interventional Fellows Institute (IFI) and Interventional Cardiology Institute (ICI).
Designed for training and practicing interventionalists respectively, these two online curricula are now faster, easier-to-navigate, and still FREE thanks to an educational grant by the Cordis Cardiac & Vascular Institute.
While there are additional new features such as a search function to quickly locate the topics and expanded navigation tools for each unit, both sites continue to provide a curriculum designed through the leadership of program director Manish Parikh, M.D., FSCAI with a team of the foremost experts in the field. This expertise is bolstered by interactive activities, narrated case studies, practice questions with instant feedback, and high quality visuals and animations.

Guideline Update Addresses Beta Blockers, Noncardiac Surgery
SCAI is endorsing the newly released 2009 ACCF/AHA Focused Update on Perioperative Beta Blockade to the ACC/AHA 2007 Guidelines on Perioperative Cardiovascular Evaluation and Care for Noncardiac Surgery.
This update to the practice guidelines is based on new clinical trial data that summarizes and sheds light on the risks and benefits of using beta blockers to reduce cardiac events during noncardiac surgeries, and provides specific recommendations about which patients will likely benefit and in which patients there is not enough evidence to recommend their use.
