SCAI Installs Dr. Larry S. Dean as 2010-2011 President
Larry S. Dean, MD, FSCAI, FACC, FAHA, was installed as SCAI's 33rd president during last week's SCAI 2010 Scientific Sessions in San Diego. Dr. Dean is director of the University of Washington Medicine Regional Heart Center in Seattle, where he specializes in cardiac catheterization and interventional cardiology. He also conducts and publishes research related to his field.
Chief among Dr. Dean's priorities as president will be focusing on global cardiovascular health initiatives, including the education of future interventional cardiologists. Dr. Dean's interest in educating current and future physicians, both in the United States and internationally, is demonstrated by his position as chair of SCAI's Education Committee.
Dr. Dean also intends for SCAI to actively participate in health care reform efforts as they relate to interventional cardiology, ensuring optimal implementation of the newly passed health reform legislation.
