Fellow-in-Training | SCAI

Additional benefits for Fellows-in-Training

Dedicated to training the next generation of interventional cardiovascular practitioners and leaders, additional benefits of SCAI membership for fellows-in-training include:

  • SCAI Fellows Courses – held halfway through the academic year, this fellows-only meeting features expert faculty and offers education, simulation training, networking, and mentoring opportunities.
  • Interventional Cardiology Fellows Essentials is a robust online course designed to meet the educational needs of interventional cardiology fellows-in-training and support the work of interventional cardiology program directors.

Both are designed to meet the educational needs of fellows-in-training and interventionalists in the first five years of practice.

Requirements:

Candidates are physicians in good standing who meet any of the following criteria:

  • Accepted into or enrolled in an ACGME or RCPSC accredited adult interventional cardiology training program (this can also be an unaccredited structural or peripheral interventional training program).
  • Accepted into or enrolled in an approved pediatric interventional cardiology training program.
  • Accepted into or enrolled in an approved structural imaging training program
  • Enrolled in an ACGME-accredited cardiovascular diseases or pediatric cardiology training program.
  • International fellows who have been accepted into or are currently enrolled in a cardiovascular diseases or interventional cardiology training program in their country of practice.

Conditions of membership:

Fellows-in-Training are eligible to serve and vote on SCAI committees but not eligible to serve as Trustees or Officers of the society or vote at meetings of society members.

FIT members in the USA and Canada who complete an accredited interventional cardiology fellowship are part of the SCAI Early Career Pathway, and they may advance to Fellow of SCAI (FSCAI) upon certification by an appropriate subspecialty board.

To apply, please submit:

  • A current curriculum vitae
  • A recommendation letter (on official letterhead) OR an online attestation completed by their current or future program director, stating the start date and end date of their training program and confirming that the candidate is in good standing

Being a Fellow-in-Training member of SCAI does not mean that you are a Fellow of SCAI (FSCAI).

Cost—complimentary

SCAI has graciously waived the membership fee.

Member Highlight

SCAI is my interventional home.

Being a part of this community of like minded colleagues who are always working together to better the field of interventional cardiology helps me learn and grow as an early career interventional cardiologist.

I am able to learn and contribute to the society, and the SCAI staff and members' camaraderie truly makes belonging matter!
