April 13, 2015
After nearly two decades of uncertainty stemming from the Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR), the U.S. Senate is expected to vote tomorrow, April 14, on H.R. 2, The Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015. If passed, this bill would repeal the flawed SGR formula once and for all. The proposed legislation would permanently repeal the SGR and would combine quality reporting programs to reward clinicians for improved patient outcomes. If the bill is not passed, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services will be required to implement the mandated 21 percent cut that affects all claims submitted since April 1.
