Senator John McCain Cites SCAI Letter on Health Care Reform
March 12, 2010
Senator John McCain (R-AZ) read SCAI's letter on Health Care Reform into the Congressional Record on Thursday, March 11, citing concerns by the Society and its Alliance of Specialty Medicine partners regarding the Senate approved health care reform bill. The letter was originally distributed on Capitol Hill on Wednesday, March 10.
The Alliance is concerned with health care reform proposals that would create an Independent Medicare Advisory Board, as it would focus solely on cutting costs and lack proper oversight and clinical expertise.
Additionally, the Alliance urged Congress to address the Medicare physician reimbursement crisis with a fair and long-term reimbursement model. The letter also includes feedback on value-based purchasing language and provisions that cover quality, medical liability reform and physician ownership. READ THE LETTER
