SCAI, Alliance Support Ensign Medical Liability Amendments

SCAI and its specialty medicine society partners in the Alliance of Specialty Medicine recently voiced support for Senator John Ensign's (R-NV) proposed amendments to the health reconciliation bill that would grant limited immunity from lawsuits to those who provide uncompensated care to individuals who are medically underserved, indigent, or victims of a disaster.
In a letter addressed to Sen. Ensign, the Alliance thanked the Senator for his leadership on this issue, stating, "people covered by these amendments need access to care, and physicians providing this care should not have to worry about the threat of questionable lawsuits looming large."
